Navigating Ethical Challenges (1 CEU)

This session will provide an opportunity for macro and community practice social workers to connect, consult, and reflect on ethics in macro practice. Macro practitioners face numerous ethical challenges in our work, yet the resources related to identifying and navigating ethical challenges in macro practice are relatively thin. After briefly introducing some core ethical principles relevant for macro practitioners, this round table will provide opportunity to discuss:
  • What kinds of ethical challenges do you encounter in your field of practice?
  • What structures of support do you have (or desire) for navigating ethical challenges in macro practice?
  • How can we better support social work students and early macro practitioners in developing as ethical practitioners?
There will be opportunity for both informal conversation, and more formal workshopping of specific ethical dilemmas within systems/agency settings. The roundtable is co-hosted by Amie Thurber (Assistant Professor, PSU School of Social Work and ACOSA NW Regional Representative) and the PSU SSW Field Team.
